Frank Davis, born March 22, 1947, in Hermanville, MS, was the beloved son of Green Lee Davis, Sr. and Mary Lee Triplett. He passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, at the age of 79, at his home in Hermanville, MS.

Frank graduated from the Claiborne County School District, served with distinction as a Specialist 5 in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968, and earned a Bachelor of Science from Alcorn State University in 1971. He dedicated his career to law enforcement in Claiborne County, becoming Mississippi's first elected Black sheriff in the modern era in 1979 until his retirement in 2016.

A faithful and devout deacon of King David Christian Church, Frank was also Vice-President of the NAACP and served on the boards of the Romola Water Association and Claiborne County Health Center. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golf, football, baseball, and Western shows.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elizabeth Crowder, Green Lee Davis, Jr., and John Henry Davis. He is survived by his children, Tracy L. Davis and Gary A. Davis; five sisters, Ann Davis, Georgia Gross, Carrie Goldsberry, Alice Hedrick, and Patricia Chambliss; four brothers, Henderson Davis, Jack Davis, Richard Crowder, and Alvin Crowder; and two cherished grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Barnes Chapel & Mortuary Service, 5087 Hwy 61 South, Port Gibson, MS, 39150 from 5:00- 8:00 pm.  The funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 10:00 am, Port Gibson High School, 159 Old Highway 18 No 1, Port Gibson, MS 39150. Rev. Percy Terrell will be officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, September 7, 2026, from 9:00 - 10:00 am, at Natchez National Cemetery Pavilion, 41 Cemetery Road, Natchez, MS 39120.
